This website is operated by Roman Manders (MaroWare), a freelance web development studio based in Belgium.

2. What data we collect and why
2.1 Contact form submissions
When you fill in our contact form we collect your name, email address, optional company name, and project description. We use this to respond to your enquiry. Legal basis: legitimate interest (responding to a direct enquiry). We retain this data for up to 2 years.
2.2 Analytics cookies (with consent)
If you accept analytics cookies we use Google Analytics 4 to collect anonymised data about how visitors use this site (pages visited, time on site, referring URL, browser/device type). IP addresses are anonymised. No personally identifiable information is sent to Google. Legal basis: consent.
2.3 Necessary cookies
We store a single cookie (mw_cookie_consent) to remember your cookie preferences. This contains no personal data and is required for the site to function correctly. Legal basis: legitimate interest.
3. Who we share data with
We do not sell your data. We share data only with the following processors where necessary:
Google Analytics (Google LLC)
Anonymised site usage analytics — only with your consent. Processed in the EU/EEA under Google's Data Processing Amendment.
Google Fonts (Google LLC)
Font files are loaded from Google's CDN. Your IP address may be processed by Google. See Google's privacy policy for details.
Hosting provider (VPS)
Our website and contact form submissions are stored on a European VPS server.
4. Data transfers outside the EU
Google Analytics may transfer data to the United States. Google LLC participates in the EU–US Data Privacy Framework and provides adequate safeguards under GDPR Article 46. You can opt out by rejecting analytics cookies.
5. Your rights
Under the GDPR you have the right to:
- Access — request a copy of the personal data we hold about you
- Rectification — ask us to correct inaccurate data
- Erasure — ask us to delete your data ("right to be forgotten")
- Restriction — ask us to limit how we use your data
- Portability — receive your data in a machine-readable format
- Objection — object to processing based on legitimate interest
- Withdraw consent — at any time for consent-based processing
To exercise any right, email roman@maroware.be. We will respond within 30 days. You also have the right to lodge a complaint with the Belgian Data Protection Authority (dataprotectionauthority.be).

7. Data retention
- Contact form submissions: up to 2 years from date of submission
- Analytics data: as per Google Analytics 4 retention settings (default 14 months)
- Cookie consent record: 12 months (stored locally in your browser)
8. Changes to this policy
We may update this policy from time to time. Significant changes will be communicated via the cookie consent banner (which will re-appear with an updated version). The "last updated" date at the top always reflects the current version.
